Seminar CASLIN 2000 is the first international activity of the Training Center for Continuing Education for Librarians in the Czech Republic focused on school and continuing education. Seminar structure built on the best tradition of previous years will experience some changes. Beside traditional foreign lectors - this year we have invited Karen Drabenstott (University of Michigan, US), Susan Perry (Mount Holyoke College, US) and Sylva Šimsová (Great Britain) - more space will be given to home specialists. First Jiří Cejpek (Charles University, Czech Republic) and Jela Steinerová (Comenius University, Slovak Republic) will address new trends in the field of Information Science. Next, representatives of school education and co-ordinators of training centers will present their experience in teaching and learning process. Finally Martin Svoboda (State Technical Library, Prague) and Zuzana Řepišová (Masaryk University, Brno) will be moderating a round table discussion among the key players and the foreign guests in front of the audience of all the other participants of the seminar.
Hotel Fontána I is situated nearby the downtown and the Luhačovice reservoir. Participants of the seminar will find here the ideal place for both work and relaxation. Scenic spa town of Luhačovice is located in the South Moravia region. The spa is famous for its 300 years old therapeutical tradition, fine architecture, decorative parks, and notably for the mineral springs. The most popular among them are Vincentka, Aloiska, Ottovka and Dr. Šťastný spring.
